More Northern Star Polish Swatches: Smuldering, Ki-Ki Ma-Ma, Storybook Love, Inconceivable and Drop Your Sword!

Hey everybody! Today I have five more Northern Star Polish polishes to show you all!

I was a total swatching machine on the weekend, can you believe I swatched seven polishes (these five and my two Emily de Mollys) in two days? I'm actually not very surprised because I should have been studying for my upcoming biochemistry midterm and doing my organic chemistry assignment :P. I am a horribly efficient procrastinator!

All of these polishes had really nice formulas that were a bit thick, but I should note that Storybook Love was a little too thick for my liking, though still totally manageable! All of the pictures seen here are of three coats and no top coat except for the first polish, Smuldering, which is of two coats and no top coat!

The last three polishes featured in this post are from Kristen's As You Wish Collection which makes me super happy! Does anyone else love the movie The Princess Bride? I've seen it so many times and just talking about it makes me want to watch it again!

Anyways, onto the swatches!

Cartoony Halloween Nails!

Hi everyone! Today I have a Halloween skittle mani to share!

Yesterday we went to my boyfriend's house for the night, so I brought a bunch of nail polish stuff to school so I could do my nails at his house. This means I've been carrying around the ten polishes I used for these nails plus my base and top coat and other supplies for two days now haha! There is one colour I can't tell you the name of in this mani, because I ended up mixing my green, orange and purple to make it! Except for forgetting to pack a brown (though I guess I could have done the stem bit green if I had used a different base colour for the pumpkin nails) I actually feel like I prepared really well for this mani. I ended up using every polish I brought with me on at least one nail!

After dinner I painted my boyfriend's stepmom's toes with the purple seen here (Color Club Pucci-licious) and I added cute little square gold studs to her big toes! In other words, I had a super polished-packed night, the best kind of night!

Sorry I didn't post these any sooner, I didn't have access to my sister's camera and my light box and lamps until now! I posted these nails when I was almost done with them yesterday on Instagram, so definitely follow me there because between here and Instagram, I usually post every three days or less! I also post ridiculous pictures of myself which I also did yesterday! I'm going to go ahead and embed the picture here because I want to show off my adorable new cat ear hat! Isn't it the best? :)

Anyway, asides aside, for these nails I only used two (well three if you count my cleanup brush) brushes! I picked up four new brushes from Michaels on the weekend and I love them all! Well, I haven't actually tried one of them yet, but I'm very excited to! For everything except the gradient I used a 12/0 liner brush, and for the gradient I used a big fluffy brush to mix the different proportions of blue and black and to apply the mixtures to my nails! I almost forgot, I also used an eyeshadow sponge because I bought a pack of them at the dollar store for gradient purposes! I used the sponge to lightly apply my black holographic polish on the tips of my thumbs!

Anyways, onto the polishes used and then the pictures!

Red creme- American Apparel Poppy
Holographic red- Northern Star Polish Ki-Ki-Ma-Ma
Orange- China Glaze Oh How Street It Is
Yellow- Color Club Almost Famous
Green- Essie Mojito Madness
Blue- Essie Mesmerized
Purple- Color Club Pucci-licious
White- OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls
Black creme- Orly Liquid Vinyl
Holographic black- Color Club Beyond

Here's my right hand! I'll only ever do a design I can do on both hands, so I kind of have to stick to simple cartoony designs haha!

Thanks so much for reading everyone, let me know what you think of these in the comments! Happy Halloween! :)

Blue to Yellow Gradient Topped with Black Sheep Lacquer's Grab Your Toque!

Hello everyone! Today I have a simple gradient topped with glitter combo to share!

For this look I started off with one coat of Essie Mesmerized, as pictured below! This polish could easily be a one-coater if you're careful enough, but since I knew I wanted to do some nail art on top it was okay that I wasn't overly cautious on some nails. Also, my light box is incredibly forgiving when it comes to bald spots, which is very convenient when I'm just swatching the bases for my nail art!

Anyways, onto the swatches and nail art!

This is one coat of Essie Mesmerized and no top coat!

The other colour I used for the gradient was a lovely OPI yellow called Fiercely Fiona! I mixed varying amounts of Mesmerized and Fiercely Fiona for the two in between colours in attempt to create a smoother gradient. I've started using eyeshadow brushes for gradients and just sponging on one colour at a time. It's much less messy that way and requires much less cleanup!

The glitter topper I slapped on top of it all is Black Sheep Lacquer Grab Your Toque, a lovely red and white glitter topper as you can see! I thought it would contrast nicely with the blue and yellow and I really like the effect!

Textured Matte Hearts!

Holy crap, it's me!

So I am FINALLY back into nail art and nail painting period! I didn't feel like myself leaving the house with short bare nails, and though they're not long yet, I feel so much better about them!

Today I have some textured matte nail art to share, because I wanted to find a way to incorporate textured polishes into nail art!

For this look I used a small nail art brush to paint the hearts after my base colour and layer of top coat had dried.

Onto the pictures and colours used!

Purple base: Essie No More Film

Yellow textured matte polish: Sally Hansen Sweetie

Thank you so much for stopping by everyone! I'm thinking of doing the 31 Day Challenge at my own pace, is that something any of you would like to see? Let me know in the comments if you have any other suggestions! :)

Rainbow Zig Zag Nail Art!

Hello everyone! Today I have some super fun and cute zig zag nail art to share!

My nails may look a bit bumpy here because I've decided to start a more serious no-buy, despite the fact that I'm almost out of top coat! I'm trying to conserve what little I have left, especially because I often paint other people's nails!

For this look I used a nail art brush I got off of eBay and then cut almost all of the bristles off of. I started off with two coats of OPI Care to Danse? for a sheer base! Then I just dabbed a drop of one colour at a time on a stack of paper and went to work!

Onto the pictures and names of the colours!

Zig Zag Nail Art

From thumb to pinky: Essie DJ Play that Song, Essie Bobbing for Baubles, Essie Tart Deco, Essie Mod Square, and NOPI "Baby" Blue!

Thanks for reading everybody! I'm back into nail art and feeling more like myself, so expect more fun designs! If you guys ever have any requests for a certain colour comparison post, a swatch of a colour, a review of a nail care product, or a certain kind of nail art and/or tutorial just let me know in the comments or on another of my social media pages! :)

Abstract Watercolour Flower Nails!

Hey there friends! It's about one in the morning where I live and I just finished painting my nails and taking pictures of them! Today I have nails that look a bit floral in real life (the yellow and orange bits look like flowers) but not so much in these pictures. I also took pictures of OPI My Vampire is Buff on its own before I jazzed my nails up!

I'll have more Black Sheep Lacquer swatches for you all very soon! Erin's made at least a few new polishes and I'm really excited to see and swatch them!

Also, I said in my last post that I'd do some nails to match an outfit next and I didn't end up doing them today. I'll try to next time I paint my nails, I just have to find a cool patterned shirt in one of my shirt buckets (I organize my clothes strangely)! I apologize for the remnants of my nails that I filed off today appearing in the photos! I didn't manage to get that stubborn thin layer of nail that doesn't file off off of every nail I guess!

Without further ado, onto the pictures!

OPI My Vampire is Buff

This is two coats of My Vampire is Buff which isn't enough coats for this polish to be opaque unfortunately. My light box setup is very forgiving because the two coats look opaque enough in these pictures! I didn't bother with a third coat because I knew I'd be covering my base with some nail art. I also added a coat of my usual top coat (Essie Good to Go) before taking these pictures, because I didn't want the polish thinned with acetone to remove my base colour!

OPI My Vampire is Buff

Here is my first attempt at watercolour nail art! I followed MrCandiipants' tutorial for this design, you should check her out if you never have because she's hilarious and so creative! I didn't thin out the polishes enough, but I decided I didn't mind the stripey look and kept adding colours! Speaking of which, the polishes I used were: American Apparel Mannequin (peach), OPI Fiercely Fiona (a super unique shade of yellow, absolutely love it!), and China Glaze Bahamian Escape (blue)!

My elusive right hand!

Thanks for having a look everyone! :)
