Revlon French Roast Swatch & Review!

Hey everyone! Today I have a gorgeous brown creme with shimmer to share!

I apologize for not posting so often lately, we have three weeks left of school so I have a bunch of stuff to due including a few more midterms. I am feeling better about school lately, and I now think I'll be able to survive the next few weeks haha! Onto the polish!

Revlon French Roast

If you follow me on Instagram (@partialtopolish), then you know I scored big at a dollar store a few weeks ago. This was one of the polishes I picked up (along with 11 others :P) that day! Revlon French Roast is a dark and warm brown creme polish with orange, pink and blue shimmer. This polish strikes me as very unique release for a non-indie brand, and I find it quite pretty!

Revlon French Roast

The formula was very easy to work with, nice and thick for easy control. It dried very fast and only needed two coats to reach opacity. What you see here is two coats and a coat of top coat!

Revlon French Roast

I did find that I got tip-wear a lot quicker than I usually do while wearing this polish, but I change my polish pretty often and it didn't go so far as to chip!

Revlon French Roast

Overall I think this is a really pretty polish, especially to a brown lover like me! And for two dollars, how could I have realistically said no? :P

Thank you so much for reading everyone! I'm going to a play and a dinner tonight before picking up my little sister from the airport and I can't wait to see her! I've been on plenty of trips on my own but this was her first trip without her family so I'm excited to hear how it was and have her home! What are your guys' plans for the evening? Happy Friday! =)

Deborah Lippmann Marnie & Snake Nail Art with the Deborah Lippmann Girls Collection!

Yo yo yo! Today I have some nail art to share featuring the Deborah Lippmann Girls Collection!

Tonight's post will be a quick one because I still have homework to do and it's just about bed time :P. I'm still feeling very overwhelmed with school so I need to do as much homework as possible to de-stress.

Deborah Lippmann Marnie

Here is a quick swatch of Deborah Lippmann Marnie, a light pink crelly which is pinker (i.e. a darker pink) than I was able to capture on any camera. It was a bit streaky and a three-coater but I'm so in love with the brush and I've wanted to try a Deborah Lippmann for so long that I have no complaints!

Now for the nail art! I used the other three polishes from the Girls collection for these snake nails; Jessa (the dark red crelly), Hannah (the dusty green creme) and Shoshanna (the light purple creme with shimmer). All dried fast and were super easy to work with!

For the snake-skin-looking nails I used a technique from a tutorial by the lovely Jaunty Juli! Check out her awesome and quick tutorial if you want to know how I did these!

Sorry about how brief this post was, I need to get my butt in gear with my term paper and homework before it's the last week of school! :P What do you guys think of these nails? I'd love to know! Happy Monday!

Rainbow Honey Apple Kid & Watercolour Nail Art!

Hey everyone! Today I have a swatch and review of Rainbow Honey Apple Kid and some watercolour nail art on top to share!

I am super happy today because it's Friday! I do have a bunch of homework and studying to do over the weekend but I'm trying to be less lazy and more motivated so it might not be so bad! I'll be proud of myself for doing the work and putting in the effort! I even decided to dress like I used to today (i.e. less lazily and comfily) to try and get myself back on track. Remember when I was following the Blogilates calendar? I haven't worked out since I stopped and I remember being more motivated for school when I was working out, so I'd like to start up again! Life changes excitement aside, let's get onto the nails!

Rainbow Honey Apple Kid

I decided to wear a pink polish for once the other day, so I reached for one of my many untried Rainbow Honey's, Apple Kid. My camera hates reds and pinks so I think this is showing up a little too pink and not quite red enough here!

Rainbow Honey Apple Kid

This lovely polish was just about a one-coater but I did two just to be sure! I also added a coat of top coat and it dried super shiny (unlike it looks here). Ugh, taking accurate pictures of my nails is an endless struggle, but at least they keep getting better!

Rainbow Honey Apple Kid

Another thing that's a little bit off in these pictures is my skin tone, because dang did this polish make me look pale. I kind of like when a polish does that because it means it's really freaking bright and bold!

Rainbow Honey Apple Kid

The formula and consistency of this polish was awesome, definitely no complaints there! I've just been loving all of my Rainbow Honey's so far!

Watercolour Nail Art

And now we have the nail art! I thinned out blobs of Essie DJ Play that Song (purple), Sally Hansen Fiery Island (orange) and Nyx Girls Bloody Mary (red) with acetone on a piece of paper and painted random blobs of them on my nail! I then messily covered my entire nail with a thinned out coat of American Apparel Angeline (pink) with my nail art brush to tone down and blend some of the colours in better.

Watercolour Nail Art

Next I applied one coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust followed by a coat of top coat! It would have been so fun to add some stars and turn these into sunset galaxy nails!

Watercolour Nail Art

Another thing about these pictures is it's hard to see the different colours that were painted on. If you check out my Instagram there is a picture where you can see the different colours better! I think the dulled shine, improper white balance and the fact that it's hard to distinguish between the colours is because like other cameras, my camera hates reds and has difficulty photographing them!

Watercolour Nail Art

Thanks so much for reading everyone! How do you feel about this nail art or Rainbow Honey Apple Kid? I'd love to know! Happy Friday! =)

Above the Curve Doctor Who Collection Part 1: Donna and The Silence!

Hey everybody! Today I have two polishes from Above the Curve's new Doctor Who Collection to share!

I have a midterm tomorrow to study for so I'll make this post fairly quick! It's in organic chemistry which is the class I'm the worst at so I'm kind of nervous. Scary things aside, let's get on to the pretty polishes!

Above the Curve Donna

Donna is a bright orange metallic polish with holographic pigment tossed in! I find I don't own or wear a lot of warm-toned polishes like this, and I really don't know why because they're gorgeous!

Above the Curve Donna

The formula on this baby was amazing; it dried quickly and had the perfect consistency!

Above the Curve Donna

This polish was nice and opaque too, needing just two coats for full coverage! I also applied a coat of top coat for the pictures you see here (not that it needed it, it was super smooth and shiny on its own)!

Above the Curve Donna

Above the Curve The Silence

The Silence is a black polish stuffed with holographic pigment, purple to blue duochrome shimmer, and what look like pink and blue flakies. In other words, this polish is gorgeous!

Above the Curve The Silence

Again, no issues to report with the formula here because it was amazing too!

Above the Curve The Silence

What you see here is two coats and a coat of top coat but you could probably get away with just one coat of this bad boy. Isn't it stunning?

Above the Curve The Silence

Thank you so much for reading everyone! I'll have the other two polishes from this collection up on Thursday! Happy Tuesday! :)

Essie Lots of Luxe Swatch and Review!

Hey everyone! Today I have a quick swatch and review of a lovely new Essie textured polish called Lots of Lux!

I've had a rough week filled with the flu, some tragedies and now possibly a cold, so this will be a short post. I also have constant homework, studying and labs to do so I should probably work on those soon! On a happier note, I'll have swatches of Above the Curve's Valentine's Day Collection for you guys soon! They asked me if I'd like to do some reviews for them and of course I said yes; I absolutely love their polishes! I'm so excited!

Essie Lots of Lux

Essie Lots of Lux is a blue metallic texture polish with black/dark blue particles, and purple and light green tiny glitters! The formula was perfect and it dried pretty quickly, and this is just one coat!

Essie Lots of Lux

Since I've been pretty down and I haven't been up to writing this post, I actually can talk about the staying power of this polish. I've been wearing it since Wednesday night I believe, so two and a half days, and I only have the slightest tip wear near the middle of some of my tips. I also took these pictures almost twenty-four hours after I put it on and I can't see any tip wear!

Here's a picture of these with my lamps but without my light box to show off the shimmer!

Thanks so much for reading everyone, happy Saturday!

Black Sheep Lacquer Duochrome/Multichrome Gradient Nail Art!

Hey everyone! Today I have a multichrome/duochrome gradient to share!

I have a bunch of homework to do this weekend and I'm feeling a little overwhelmed so I think I'll keep this post pretty short. What are your guys' plans for the weekend? Anyone else a bit stressed with school or work?

Black Sheep Lacquer Duochrome Gradient

For this look I started with one coat of my favourite black polish, Revlon Espresso, for a nice and opaque base. I then went in with Black Sheep Lacquer Zaftig Zombie (green), Black Sheep Lacquer Blink (blue) and Black Sheep Lacquer Blue-Yea (pink/purple). Since these are duochromes/multichromes the colour of these polishes on their own is usually different than the colour they shine over black, which I think is super awesome! I had to take into consideration what each colour looked like over black to decide which ones to use and in which order to use them!

Black Sheep Lacquer Duochrome Gradient

I have swatched each of these individually (both on their own and over black) in a very picture-heavy post you can find here! There is a fourth Black Sheep Lacquer polish featured in that swatch post called Forbidden Fruit that I didn't use here because my nails aren't really long enough!

Black Sheep Lacquer Duochrome Gradient

One of my favourite things about this mani is that Blink contains small pink iridescent glitters and some ended up on my nails!

Black Sheep Lacquer Duochrome Gradient

I even made a gif of me moving my nails from up to down because you can see the different colours more from different angles!

Thanks so much for having a look everyone! What do you guys think of this mani? I'd love to hear in the comments! Happy Saturday!

Yume Lacquer Swatches and Review: Submerged Siren, Sunken Treasure, Queen Of The Ring and Photographic Evidence!

Hey everyone! Today I have a quick swatch and review of four Yume Lacquer polishes* to share!

Today was my first day back at school and as I expected, it was totally fine. I think I was just being a baby and enjoying my break so I really didn't want to go back haha! I already like all of my teachers and one of them is really funny! Anyways, let's make this quick and to the point because I just did pilates (sort of, there were bits I couldn't do) and I'm crashing. I swear she makes the Monday workouts the hardest of the week as if Mondays don't suck enough already! :P

Yume Lacquer Submerged Siren

First up is Submerged Siren, a shimmery and slightly duochromatic blue polish inspired by Sailor Neptune!

Yume Lacquer Submerged Siren

The formula was a breeze to work with as I've come to expect with Yume Lacquer polishes! I felt like there were a few clumps of unmixed pigment in mine (see my middle finger and thumb nail) but a coat of top coat would smooth that right out!

Yume Lacquer Submerged Siren

The fact that you can still see those bumps shows that these pictures are without top coat, and they're also just two coats of the polish!

Yume Lacquer Submerged Siren

Yume Lacquer Sunken Treasure

Next we have Sunken Treasure, a charcoal grey polish with shimmer and different-sized glitters, inspired by Final Fantasy 5!

Yume Lacquer Sunken Treasure

The formula on this one was slightly thick than the others but still entirely manageable! It's also pretty bumpy due to all of the glitters so I'd suggest a thick coat of top coat or two!

Yume Lacquer Sunken Treasure

Like almost all Yume Lacquer polishes this baby was easily a two-coater, and I also slapped a coat of top coat on top to combat the bumpiness caused by all that glitter!

Yume Lacquer Sunken Treasure

Yume Lacquer Queen Of The Ring

Next up we have Queen Of The Ring, a dark green crelly polish with long black bar glitter, inspired by Persona 2!

Yume Lacquer Queen Of The Ring

This polish was a little hard to apply, only because I was trying to avoid having a bar glitter stick out onto my cuticle or not lay completely on the nail!

Yume Lacquer Queen Of The Ring

What you see here is two coats plus two coats of top coat for maximum squishiness!

Yume Lacquer Queen Of The Ring

Yume Lacquer Photographic Evidence

Lastly we have Photographic Evidence, a grey crelly base with tiny gold glitters throughout! I think my bottle wasn't fully mixed because as you can see, there were a lot of pigment clumps throughout the bottle.

Yume Lacquer Photographic Evidence

The formula on this one was lovely as well, easy to control due to a slight thickness!

Yume Lacquer Photographic Evidence

This is the only three-coater I received from Yume Lacquer and that's amazing for indie polishes! I didn't apply top coat over this polish so this is just three coats and no top coat!

Yume Lacquer Photographic Evidence

Thanks so much for reading everyone, I hope you're all having a lovely time coming back to reality haha! Let me know which one of these is your favourite in the comments!

*These polishes were sent for swatches and an honest review.
