Art Deco Inspired Nail Art over American Apparel Coney Island!

Hey everyone! Today I have some art deco inspired nail art to share!

I finally got my hands on the Nicole by OPI Roughles collection last night and I couldn't be happier! I'm wearing the pink one (Rock the Look) already and I'm in love (despite the fact that pink is my least favourite colour)! They were even 50% off when I finally found them at Shoppers Drug Mart! I have been madly in love with the whole collection since it came out and I've spent the last month or so convincing myself I don't need them (mostly because I couldn't find them anywhere)! Expect a swatch and review of all four in the near future!

Art Deco Nail Art

I am now happily going on a no-buy because I have so many untrieds in my collection, it's ridiculous :P. I've started a massive post listing all of my untrieds with pictures but dang is it hard work! I even want to include polishes I've only swatched on one hand because I want to actually wear them all out, so my post will be quite large! I think I have 376 polishes at the moment and I wonder if I've even worn half of them as full manis! Anyways, onto the nails!

Art Deco Nail Art

As you can see, I've decided to go back to a light background for a while. I think it goes with my light blog layout better and I'm just liking it better now for some reason!

Art Deco Nail Art

For this mani I started with two easy coats of American Apparel Coney Island and a coat of top coat. I have pictures of it alone, but I think I'll have a weekly or biweekly (the twice a week meaning) post of swatches of the bases of my nail art from now on.

Art Deco Nail Art

Later that day I went in with OPI OPI... Eurso Euro and two small nail art brushes. I'm not sure how art deco-y these are because I kind of invented the design as I went! I didn't actually like this design very much so I didn't finish doing my other hand to go with it, but a ton of you on Instagram did! I usually post every mani I do on here and as long as I don't absolutely hate it, because everyone has nail fails in their own eyes!

What do you guys think of these nails? I'd love to know in the comments! :)

Pastel Water Marble & Textured Nail Art!

Hey everyone! Today I have a fun little water marble and textured polish combo to share!

I was sitting around watching a marathon of the Naked Gun movies with my boyfriend this morning, and it made for a really good day! I love Leslie Nielsen and outrageously silly movies! I have to watch them with my sister and dad because I know they'll love them too :D. I've also been checking out a ton of swatches of neon collections and summer collections and I'm itching to pick up some new bright polishes (though I should really stop buying polish)! Anyway, onto the nails!

For these nails I started with a base of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and OPI Solitaire on the water marble and textured nails, respectively. Both were perfect in two coats, in fact, Solitaire was pretty darn opaque at one coat! It was also very fast drying and it has a perfect formula!

For the water marble I used four lovely China Glaze polishes; For Audrey (turquoise), Secret Peri-Wink-Le (purple that spread out and appeared blue), Dance Baby (pink) and V (orange). I found that they all worked really well together, or maybe China Glaze polishes in general work really well for water marbling!

I followed a lovely tutorial by PackAPunchPolish on Youtube (link here) for the water marble! I also included a sped up video of me doing this whole mani at the end of this post for funzies!

Here is my right hand! I kind of think this one turned out better but I wish the little dots of polish in the middle weren't there. I think they were from not cleaning the dotting tool before dipping it in the middle, so if you guys try this out you can learn from my mistakes!

What do you guys think of this mani? I'd love to hear in the comments!

Thank you so much for reading everyone! I'll try and post more frequently, I've been keeping busy despite being out of school and it seems I've been keeping too busy to post every two days! I'll have a cute nail art look with an awesome Sally Hansen blue up soon! Happy Thursday! =)

Born Pretty Store Brush Set Review!

Hey everyone! Today I have a review of a set of Born Pretty Store brushes (link to the set here) to share!

I've started filming myself when I do my nails and I've been thinking of making tutorials or something! Let me know if that would be something you'd like to see :). For the manis I've recorded myself doing, I think I'll just add the video to the post about them so you guys can see how I did them/how I paint my nails! I'm quite behind in posting so that may be in a while :P. Anyways, onto the nails!

Nicole by OPI All Kendall-ed Up

This is the base I decided on for this mani because it has been calling my name ever since I bought it! This is two coats of Nicole by OPI All Kendall-ed Up plus a coat of top coat!

Nicole by OPI All Kendall-ed Up

I decided to not use any other brushes for this mani, so for clean up I used the smallest brush in this set instead of my normal clean up brush! It works super well for a clean up brush!

Nicole by OPI All Kendall-ed Up

Please excuse the bumps on my nails, I've since buffed them! They just get so darn peel-y and bumpy from removing glitter polishes, even when I use the foil method!

Born Pretty Brush Set Review

Here are the three brushes that came in the set! The metal part and brush part detached from the wooden part on one of them, but I just applied a little top coat to the wooden part and shoved it back together. It has been perfect ever since!

These brushes are a lot bigger and have a lot more bristles than I typically work with when I do nail art, but you can still totally use them to make awesome designs! I did cut off most of the bristles of one of them after doing this design and I'll probably do the same to the others, just because I like thinner brushes better!

Here is the design I decided on! I used the longest brush for the stripes and the medium-sized brush for the grey blob shape!

All of the polishes I used for this design (except the pink of course) are by Revlon. The grey is Timeless, the yellow is Lemon Meringue and the turquoise-y colour is Mint Gelato! Despite the yellow and turquoise being a bit sheer they worked really well for nail art! They are also both scented and smell like their names which I love!

After doing this design, I used the smallest brush to clean up again!

What do you guys think of this nail art and these brushes? I'd love to know in the comments!

If you guys decide to pick up any nail art stuff off of their site feel free to use my coupon code; SKBQ10!

Thanks so much for reading guys, I hope you're having a lovely day! I'll have two more Born Pretty Store reviews up soon! Happy Wednesday! =)

Another Go at a Mrcandiipants Floral Design!

Hey all my lovely people! Today I have another round of Mrcandiipants springy floral nail art to share!

So this probably makes me a total weirdo but I'm actually writing this on the bus right now! It's a 50 minute to an hour long bus ride to and from school so I often write up my blog posts on the way (depending on whether we get a set of seats and if it's a double-decker). Anyways haha, I'm super happy to be sitting on my butt and getting a ride home after finishing two finals today and one yesterday! I have one more next week but I'm exhausted from reviewing reviewing reviewing so I'll definitely just be relaxing tonight!

Mrcandiipants Springy Floral Nail Art

As you may have noticed, I totally didn't prepare any posts ahead of time. In fact, I actually wore a polish for a few days that I've never worn and never took proper pictures of it! It was the amazing Color Club Eternal Beauty and you can check out a picture of it on my Instagram (button in my right sidebar)! Now, onto these nails!

Mrcandiipants Springy Floral Nail Art

I've been insanely obsessed with this Mrcandiipants design lately, I even did it on my grandma's nails last weekend! So this time (on myself) I used Sally Hansen Firey Island (orange base), Zoya Kristen (muted pale blue petals), American Apparel T-shirt (white petals), American Apparel Coney Island (pale pink petals) and Essie Plumberry (dark pink dots). Like in her tutorial, I just used the bottles from the brush for this design!

Well, I'm off to nap/lay down, paint my nails and eat! Those are my plans for tonight haha! I hope you're all having a relaxing evening also! Happy Wednesday! =)

Butter London Knackered Swatch and Review!

Hey everyone! Today I have a bunch of pictures of Butter London Knackered and a review to share!

I meant to get this post up Monday but after such a long day, a midterm and a busy weekend I was just exhausted! Then last night and this morning I had to finish up a computer science lab! I finally feel better today though because I slept really well last night. Our term papers were due Monday for genetics and I'm just realizing now that I don't have to worry about it anymore and I can relax a bit!

Butter London Knackered

I recently discovered yet another way to procrastinate! :P Have any of you heard of Candy Box 2? It's my new obsession. I'm a bit stuck because I can beat the Bat King and the Devil no problem, but I think I have to save up a billion lollipops to buy the Sorceress' hat to progress any further. Anyways haha, onto a ton of pictures and a review!

Butter London Knackered

Knackered is a GORGEOUS (and I usually refrain from using caps) multichrome polish with small silver holographic microglitter! The base is a blue-grey metallic colour but the multichrome shimmer shifts from green/turquoise to purple and pink and since there's so much of the shimmer it only looks blue-grey in very low lighting. It usually looks green or pinky purple!

Butter London Knackered

It is a bit of a sheer polish so I ended up applying four thin coats (and a coat of top coat) for the opacity you see here. I know that sounds pretty darn sheer and like it would be a pain to apply, but the formula is so lovely and it's so fast-drying that it seemed like applying a normal two or three coat polish. I absolutely love Butter London polishes and I love their brushes!

Butter London Knackered

Like I said above, the formula was lovely. It dried fast, self-leveled, applied like butter, and was only slightly brushstrokey. That's just what happens with multichrome polishes and it was hardly noticeable as you can see from the pictures!

Butter London Knackered

Another super awesome thing about this polish is how dang holographic the tiny glitters are. This polish is so unique and I really think the holographic glitters make it so much better! All of the pictures taken on my chair (the grey background) are in indirect sunlight and the glitters still look holographic! They also look holographic in my light box (black background) and my light box is where holo things go to die! Craziness!

Butter London Knackered

I know when I read something's a four-coater I think it's totally not worth the effort, but the formula on this baby is so good that you really shouldn't let that discourage you! You could also use three  thicker coats and get the same opacity!

Butter London Knackered

My dad even thought this polish was freaking awesome, everyone I showed it to did in fact. I wore this for four days and it did chip a little, but I think that was because my actual nail got a little chip in it.

Butter London Knackered

Overall I think this is a beautiful polish that is totally worth the money (17 dollars plus tax here in Canada) and a perfect present for anyone into nails!

Butter London Knackered

Thank you so much for having a look everyone, I'd love to hear what you think of this polish in the comments! I'll try to prepare some posts for the next two weeks because finals are about to start and I'll be busy again! Happy Wednesday everyone! =D

MrCandiipants Spring Floral Nail Art!

Hey everyone! Today I have a springy floral Mrcandiipants design to share!

I finally got caught up on posting everywhere and replying to everyone's comments, it seems I always fall behind with that and I love the feeling of being caught up! Today I have a short and sweet post for you because the boyfriend and I are off school in an hour and we'll be hanging out with his mom all evening! I don't know if she'll want to be out and about or at her apartment so I'm getting this post up now while I know I can! She's such a lovely lady and she's so hilarious, I miss her and I can't wait to see her! Also, my mom told me that a friend of mine I see nowhere near often enough reads my blog, so hi Hannah if you're reading! I miss you too!

MrCandiipants Spring Floral Nail Art

As I said above, this design is one by MrCandiipants and here is a link to the video tutorial! I want to try tons more floral designs using just the bottles from the brush and she has a lot of tutorials for those!

MrCandiipants Spring Floral Nail Art

The base I used here is two coats of American Apparel T-shirt and a coat of top coat! I've been madly in love with Butter London polishes lately and the Butter London colours I used here are Slapper (bright teal), Trout Pout (bright pinky coral) and Wellies (bright chartreuse crelly). The other polishes I used here are American Apparel Dance (peachy petal colour) and Nicole by OPI All Kendall-ed Up (pink dot colour)!

Deborah Lippmann Marnie & Snake Nail Art with the Deborah Lippmann Girls Collection!

Yo yo yo! Today I have some nail art to share featuring the Deborah Lippmann Girls Collection!

Tonight's post will be a quick one because I still have homework to do and it's just about bed time :P. I'm still feeling very overwhelmed with school so I need to do as much homework as possible to de-stress.

Deborah Lippmann Marnie

Here is a quick swatch of Deborah Lippmann Marnie, a light pink crelly which is pinker (i.e. a darker pink) than I was able to capture on any camera. It was a bit streaky and a three-coater but I'm so in love with the brush and I've wanted to try a Deborah Lippmann for so long that I have no complaints!

Now for the nail art! I used the other three polishes from the Girls collection for these snake nails; Jessa (the dark red crelly), Hannah (the dusty green creme) and Shoshanna (the light purple creme with shimmer). All dried fast and were super easy to work with!

For the snake-skin-looking nails I used a technique from a tutorial by the lovely Jaunty Juli! Check out her awesome and quick tutorial if you want to know how I did these!
